Focus - PM Starmer steps down

  • 1 min read

Our latest Focus report looks at the outlook for UK economic policy with Andy Burnham set to take over as Prime Minister, as early as July if nobody stands against him. Burnham has campaigned for the leadership from the left but his record as Mayor of Manchester and as a minister in Blair/Brown cabinets together with his promise to stick to the government's fiscal rules suggest he could rule more from the right than many Labour members hope. He takes over with the economy arguably in a better place than when Starmer became PM two years ago. The key to watch is whether he places increased priority on economic growth, something that Starmer's government talked about but failed to back up with usefull policies. An early sign may be who is given the job of Chancellor. For a copy of the report please email info@tricio-advisors.com
